Day 8 (June 6 - Dan's b-day) The sun didn't shine at all on Dan's birthday. We woke up to pouring rain in 100 mile and it didn't stop ALL day. We stopped in a small cafe at Interlakes. By then we were quite ready for a break from the rain. After some hot soup and a coffee we made our way to Little Fort. But to get into Little Fort there is this huge downhill 10km long where we literally froze. We rolled into Little Fort and went to the first motel we saw. We grabbed a much needed hot shower and went across the street to the local pub to watch the Sens game (sorry for your loss John...) and celebrate Dan's b-day. Our roommate Brad Boudens came up from Kamloops to say hi and watch the game with us. Diane (Dan's mom) met us at the bar after the game and we went back to the room for the night.
Day 9 (June 7) Another rainy day, except Diane brought some riding pants and neoprene gloves for Jordie to make the ride much more comfortable. The Yellowhead highway was welcoming to us with wide shoulders and smoother pavement. We made it to Avola. Another 100km in the rain. We were finished quite early(2:30) and spent the afternoon watching movies and napping in the hotel. The owner of the hotel made us hamburgers and chili for dinner. We were sleeping by 8.
Day 10 (June 8 - Jordan's b-day) We were happy to wake up with no rain in sight. We stopped for a snack in Blue river and pedaled for 90km when we met Diane and blew up our foamies and had a nap on the side of the road for over an hour. I think it was Dan's pace that burned us out... None the less we hammered an afternoon ride of about 30km and made it to 20km outside of Valemount. We put the bike in the back of the truck and headed into town. Diane cooked us an excellent pork meal with corn on the cob. After dinner we went across the street to the Loose Moose Pub to celebrate Jordie's B-day. We ran into Heather Lynch (a friend of Jordie's from Pembroke) and we watch her baseball game and had a few frosties.
Day 11 (June 9) Diane got us going with some fried eggs on toast for breakfast which was a nice change from Granola and oatmeal and drove us back to where we left off the day before. We stopped for lunch at Rearguard Falls. We had a near miss there and a little mishap. The near miss was that a mudslide missed us by under 5 minutes. But then Diane accidentally locked the keys in the truck and had to wait for a tow truck while we pushed on for the day. 3 hrs later we were beginning to get a little worried and hungry. Just as we reached the 100km she greeted us with tasty sandwiches. We decided to call it a day 50km outside of Jasper and head into town. We checked into the Athabaska hotel, showered up and Diane treated us to a pasta dinner downtown. We stayed up for a couple of brew pops at the Whistler Inn but didn't last long.
Day 12 (June 10) We were shuttled out to where we stopped the previous day and said goodbye to Diane. We made it into Jasper in the early afternoon and did a few tourist things before meeting with Glenn Schleiman. He used to work on the farm in Waltham back in the day as well as a little babysitting for the Evans'. He treated us to some fine dining and a night on the town. Stories of the old days were the highlight of the day.
Day 13 (June 11) Our first real day off. We slept in, checked out, brought our gear to Glenn's where he putting us up for the night. We were couch potatoes after brunch but finally got some motivation to take care of a few things. We are excited for a home cooked meal at Glenn's tonight. Then it's off to Hinton tomorrow.

Hi guys. Way to go!!! Sounds like you've had a lot to contend with. The weather looks pretty good for the next few days though. You are making great time logging lots of kilometers. You must be sooooo strong now. Jordan, you're going to have to do an ironman after this. It will feel like a walk in the park! I have told so many people about your journey and they are following you via this blog. Feel all of our support and encouragement every moment. Keep up the great work!
Sue and Ray
Hey Guys,
We've never met, but my sister-in-law Sue let me know about your adventure so I've been checking in every couple of days to see how you've been doing.
First of all, I commend your efforts and the courage required to take on such a challenge. I'm also pleased that Sam (my nephew) is part of your inspiration for attempting this in the first place and that he may join you for a few guest appearances along the way. Sam's accident has touched everyone that cares about him and it's wonderful to see you making such a positive contribution.
Speaking of contirbutions, that's the second part of my message. I own a vitamin company in Toronto and throughout the year we withold $1 from everyone's paycheck each week and then at the end of the year I match that amount and we make a donation to a worthy charitable cause. I'd like to donate the funds we put aside this past year to the Rick Hansen Foundation in honour of your coast to coast quest.
I'm going back to your web site right now to make the donation.
So good luck the rest of the way and kudos for being such a great example to the rest of us.

A huge thank you to Norm Danniels. What a wonderful inspiration for Jordan and Dan to know that they are making a difference. We spoke with them briefly last night and relayed your message. They were blown away! We`re sure they`ll almost fly to Edmonton on the power of that note.
A special thanks to your employees. It is a wonderful idea that should be both an inspiration to individuals and other companies. (If we are not being to forward, we would like to know under which brand name we can purchase your Vitamins, as both sets of parents keep telling Jordan and Dan to keep up with their vitamin intake during this adventure.)
Thanks also to Sue and Ray Danniels for their phenomenal support. And Sam, we hope to see you here at the farm sometime.
It means a lot to both Jordan and Dan to know that people are following them on their blog and also supporting them by donating to the Rick Hansen Foundation via their coast to coast 07 project.
All our love and support to you both,
Love Mom and Dad

Hey Jordan and Dan,
What a wonderful way for people to keep up on your adventure! Looks like you guys are having a fantabulous time. Thought i missed you guys in Terrace but i just spoke to your roomate and he said that you guys started from Bella Coola. I guess that is what a landslide will do!! Good luck throughout your travels and will definately be following your adventures. Take care,
Mika
Hey Daniel and Jordan! I'm luvin' keeping up with you on your profound journey. The Saskatchewan Burgesses are certainly proud of you both, and hope to catch up with you during your trek across the prairies! It's really too bad you couldn't introduce Jordan to what we think is the best part of this Province - life past the treeline! This brings thoughts of Dr. Seuss' book - Oh the Places You will Go! Life should be all about making differences, not just for ourselves but more importantly for others, and you 2 are setting a fine example for old and young alike. Keep on keepin' on, travel safe and know you are loved!
Your fellow Geminian!!! Yay!
Auntie Helen and Uncle Larry.
Hi John and Judi,
Our vitamin brand is called Progressive Nutritional Therapies and it is available in traditional health food stores (as opposed to mass market) across Canada.
The products are all developed with the help of a renowned naturopathic doctor and are gender, age and activity specific. Meaning it is not a one size fits all strategy. The different nutritional demands based on whether you are a man or a women, your age and your activity level are all considered. Which means we have many different formulas tailored to suit the specific needs of that kind of individual.
For example we have a formula designed for active men. It has specific ingredients to help with recovery, offer greater antioxidant protection, replace electrolytes and combat the increased stress associated with the physical challenges that athletes expose themselves to (in addition to all of the regular ingredients found in a multi).
On that note, and to end the sales pitch that I seem to be making, I'd be happy to donate enough vitamins to cover the boys for the duration of their trip. Although the bottle says to take three capsules daily (one with each meal) I would suggest that they take two with their breakfast and another two with dinner.
Let me know how long you expect their journey to last and where I can ship the product in order to get it into their hands and I'll send enough for the entire trip.
Perhaps you can contact me by email in order to make it a little easier to communicate. My email address is norm@bodyplus.ca
Hopefully I'll hear from you soon.
All the best,
Norm Danniels.
